Boston Local Food Festival very quickly became one of Boston’s most popular annual events. Promoting local food and sustainability, the festival is a hub for foodies from all over New England. ekTEK became involved in the event when it was located next to a promenade adjacent to the Boston Children’s Museum. The challenges were to create a village that had perfect traffic flow in a narrow corridor, because this was an event that was going to attract thousands of people who were not simply going to breeze by the different booths. This was achieved successfully and high satisfaction rates were recorded from festival-goers and vendors.
ekTEK worked with Sustainable Business Network of Massachusetts (SBN) to manage vendors and their respective set-up procedures which varied in complexity. In addition ekTEK had to oversee a zero waste policy meaning that the event would divert over 91% of its waste each year and offset 100% of its energy use!
The event was a massive success and ekTEK was proud to have been part of a progressive initiative such as the Boston Local Food Festival.
